Questions

What does halal mean at a restaurant?

Halal means permissible under Islamic law. For meat, it covers how the animal is raised and slaughtered. Pork and alcohol are not halal. Some restaurants serve only halal food, and others offer halal meat next to non-halal items.

What is the difference between zabiha and halal?

Zabiha is meat from an animal slaughtered by hand following Islamic rules. Many Muslims use halal and zabiha to mean the same thing, while others only accept zabiha. Each listing says whether a source mentions zabiha, so you can decide.

How are places ranked?

Only by Yums, one per person per place. Spin the Plate and Face-Off are just for fun and never change the ranking. Places with no Yums yet are sorted by how sure we are that they are halal. Restaurants cannot buy a higher rank.

How do I know a place is really halal?

Open a listing to see what each source says and who said it. Confirmed means the restaurant, its own page or Zabihah says the food is fully halal. Reported means Zabihah, a food guide or local press name it as halal. Needs your check means we only found it on delivery apps or in one weak source, so ask the staff.

What do Fully halal, Zabiha and No alcohol mean on a listing?

They appear only when a source says so. Fully halal means the whole menu is halal. Halal options means only some items are. Zabiha means a source says the meat is zabiha. No alcohol means the place sells none, though some let you bring your own.

How do I add a place or fix a listing?

Use Add a place to suggest a spot, or open a listing and tap Something is wrong. Owners can use the form for restaurants to fix details or add a menu for free.
